Dear Children and Parents,

My name is Paulina Czajkowska-Janicka, I am a pianist. I am also a mother and I love playing and working with children. I graduated from Music Academy in Bydgoszcz and afterwards I completed the course for Suzuki Teachers becoming the certified Teacher of Suzuki Association of Poland and the European Suzuki Association.
I have gained experience and developed my passion towards working with children and young people through my pedagogical work in Music School in Elbląg (Poland) and Music Academies in Gdańsk and Bydgoszcz.

I strongly believe that all children are born with unlimited potential for further development. The only condition that should be met is their parents‘ involvement in the process of education from the very beginning of their child’s life. This is our main aim, being a mother or father, to provide our kids with appropriate tools and teach them how to use these tools in the future.

As a mother and teacher I use my knowledge and experience to show all students the possibilities they have, teach them how to use the potential they were born with, help them find and develop talents and gifts they would like to enhance and above all, as dr Suzuki said: „nurture them by love“.

I would like to offer my classes of piano playing with the use of Suzuki Method that is recognized and appreciated worldwide. Over fifty years ago, a Japanese violinist and a teacher at the same time, Shinichi Suzuki noticed the phenomenon of mother tongue acquisition by little children. He observed that they learn how to speak even most difficult languages with ease and decided to apply language acquisition principles to teaching music.

The very basic features of Suzuki Method are:

  • - early start – early years of child’s life are crucial for the development of mental processes and muscles coordination, listening to music should start as the baby is born whereas formal training at the age of 4
  • - parent involvement – as children copy their parents‘ behavior, way of speaking and perceive parents as perfect models, he or she attends lessons with their child and serves as a home teacher; mother or father learns how to play before the child starts so that he/she understands what the child is expected to train; parents together with the teacher create positive and encouraging learning environment
  • - listening to music – babies learn how to speak hearing words spoken by their parents thousands of times and Suzuki students learn how to play mainly by listening to carefully chosen pieces of music every day
  • - repetition - repeating is essential to play any instrument well, it is also crucial to acquire any knowledge by little babies and children, constant repetition enables to create and strengthen neural junctions in child’s brain
  • - encouragement – each child deserves to be praised for his or her efforts not only for results; each child masters subsequent steps of instrumental training at individual rates according to his/her capabilities; what we as teachers and parents can do is to encourage them and support them in their efforts fostering the attitude of cooperation and friendliness
  • - learning with other children – in addition to individual lessons with a teacher, Suzuki Students have regular group classes when they rehearse their repertoire, learn from one another and motivate each other to further work
  • - delayed reading – all children first hear/ listen to words, then start speaking and generally at the end learn how to read; Suzuki students at the beginning listen to chosen pieces of music, then master basic technical abilities in order to create beautiful sound and to keep correct posture while playing, after that they are taught how to read music through notes
